It is fair to say that Infineon Technologies had a better week than the 49ers did. Levi's Stadium was used to host the annual OktoberTech event by Infineon.
#In several cities.
OktoberTech is conducted in many cities. Infineon uses the event to show off its expansive portfolio of ingredient Semiconductor solutions that often appear in automobiles, industrial power control products, power and sensor systems, and secure connected offerings.
Levi's Stadium is one of the most energy efficient and sustainable arenas in the National Football League and Infineon chose it to host OktoberTech to promote its decarbonization and digitalization themes.
Infineon is not a lightweight. The company employed more than 50,000 people and had revenues of over 11 billion euros.
OktoberTech has its objectives.
OktoberTech is an appealing vehicle to show off its solutions catalog in a friendly and casual atmosphere and encourage spirited discourse with the event's attendees.
The company pays homage to its German heritage. Infineon was spun off from its parent company in 1999.
The company's efforts to fight global warming was highlighted in many of the executive presentations. The demos were tied to the impact of carbon emissions and the use of electrical energy.
Infineon has a history of success in high-profile market categories. The company has a 20% share in the industrial electronics space, 15% in microcontrollers, 44% in sensor technology, and 25% in security-based products.
Infineon automotive solutions.
At the OktoberTech event, demos involved automotive capabilities. Infineon has microelectromechanical systems. The microphone technology was shown at the event.
The OktoberTech event was held at Levi's Stadium.
The Infineon microphones that are currently used for voice recognition are ideal for detecting dangerous road conditions or sirens.
Police and emergency vehicles use more than 1,500 different sirens. Cerence's technology can detect a siren, stop the car, and pull it over to allow emergency vehicles to pass.
Infineon's microphone technology can operate in low and high temperatures, meaning that it can be used outside of the car. The microphones have a form of noise cancellation that is needed for loud environments.
Take by analyst
It is hard to comprehend the extensive library of ingredient capabilities that Infineon markets. Many end-user products that consumers and businesses use every day would not be possible without Infineon's innovation, design-in prowess and cost-effectiveness.
The main challenge for Infineon is that most consumers are unfamiliar with the company, as its technology is often not apparent to the end user. I think Infineon would benefit from increased awareness and messaging.
The final product would not be possible without it. As cars become more digital, EV-oriented, and technology-based, the bill of materials for Silicon technology is growing at a rapid rate.
Estimates are that around 1,000 chips are embedded in today's non-EV vehicles, and that number grows to 2,000 in EVs, which is a strategic business opportunity for Infineon.
There are closing thoughts.
There are several market tailwinds at Infineon. Infineon has a lot of know-how in this space, which is a great asset for continued growth.
The company could see growth over the next several years because of the move to support decarbonization.
#I wrote about a few weeks ago.
More progress must be made to dramatically reduce bureaucracy in the local permitting and regulatory areas. If it takes multiple weeks to satisfy local permitting rules, the capabilities that companies like Infineon enable in the EV charging space quickly lose their appeal to consumers and businesses.
The consumer market is expected to grow at a hyper-level, with the Matter inoperability initiative finally poised to show up in tangible products in early 2023.
The acquisition of Cypress Semiconductor by Infineon could differentiate the company from its competitors. The addition of Cypress will allow Infineon to focus on fundamental growth and a more comprehensive range of applications.
Infineon's leadership seems to grasp its business opportunity and corporate responsibility to maximize decarbonization with its solutions.
Interviews with Infineon's leadership at OktoberTech event.
Bob LeFort quoted from the movie "Spider-Man", saying that Infineon recognizes that with great power comes great responsibility.
It is refreshing to see that type of candor and genuineness uttered by a senior executive in the technology space.
